NEED CLARIFICATION!

On the 1934D quarter variety- MINTMARK of 1932, Its described as having a small D mintmark( thats the rare one) the Normal one is normal i guess,

Now Pictures of this variety show the small one to be filled. Is this the telltale sign? The normal D is not filled
any help is appreciated

The difference is the size. The small mintmark was used prior to 1934 and the large mintmark was use after 1934. (All the 1932-D quarters have the small mintmark. All 1935-D quarters have the large mintmark). The filling of the hole has nothing to do with the size.
