There is one feature I particularly enjoy about the FUN show and that is selecting the new silver eagle for that year.

For those of you who are expecting one, or already have one, compare this year's eagle with last year's eagle and see the amount of changes made. There is a whole bunch, especially on the obverse.

From what I have heard, this year's dies were cut by lasers and thus the change of design. What does that implication have on our coinage? If this system is used extensively, we can say good-bye to any form of hub doubling!!!!!

As far as this year's silver eagle, the changes made were an excellent enhancement of an already great looking coin.

My proof ASE was shipped a week ago. I was waiting patiently but now you have made me impatient. I want to see it. Now.

Just to give you a little idea of the changes made.

The top picture is the 2008, the bottom 2007. The changes (some of them) are indicated by arrows.

Thanks for posting those BJ.
Should we start looking for a transitional coin now or wait twenty years?;)

From what I understand there are subtle differences in the reverse design as well. The mailman didn't cooperate yesterday. Hopefully my proof ASE will show up today. It was shipped over a week ago.
