Found this coin yesterday, it has some unusual marks near the edge on the left side. I'm wondering what to classify it as.
What do you think?

You have an example of collar clash. It occurs when the die (almost always the hammer die) hits the top and/or scrapes along the working face of the collar. The edge of the die is scored by the ridges on the collar, which produces a series of serrations on the design rim of the coin.

I also noticed the trunk is a little different, would that be cause by the clashing??

No. The lack of clarity might be due to die deterioration.
