Since it appears to be an indent, it is more than likely a "bag mark" or circulation damage.

To straight to be bag mark, it is like the coin stock is coming apart, it is indented.

Hi!
I think I will disagree.
- Looks like a manufacturing defect caused by a deteriorating die (or
contamination). Too perfect to be a circulation damage.
- Have seen similar gouges in other 2005 Bison coins. Some
aligned with a long crack at the Bison's back. Think had some
relationship with the "speared Bison".
