  • VERY UNUSUAL 1996-D 1c "VDB" Initials doublings/replications

    Hi All,

Here's a very unusual find we have this evening. We thought we found
a legitimate VDB doubling "trail die", but they are all over the OBVERSE area, as if being dragged and replicated all over the place including the edges.
Some are mirror images. Are these legitimate multiple replications? A legitimate trail die (if we have correctly ID'ed)? A combo of doubled Die and MDDs? Others?

We're cranked up this afternoon, but this is it for today. And again, please bear with us and many thanks, all!

These appear to be contact marks. Post-strike damage, in other words.

      Thanks again, Mike,

This is (1 among us 3) NVTE's good finds, though post strike-damaged!

Just need to legitimize with your experts' agreement that they are legit 'VDB' Initials replications (Are they? And what could have possibly caused the positive images and the negative-mirror images? Assume similar multiple image replications can also occur in the REVERSE side.

      Many thanks again.

i believe he is saying there is no replication and you are looking at contact marks and damage as something other than

          Thanks again!

One of NVTE's thought dug what he has been longing for. Quickly back to his big piles of Lincolns.

Have added "contact mark" in our word list.
