  • 1961 Jefferson nickel DDO and DDR

    Hi,

I am new to this forum. I have a 1961 Jefferson nickel (unc) that appears to be DDO and DDR. There are 2 outlines on the lower portion Monticello building. Letters in the word Monticello have doubling, dome of Monticello doubled, E Pluribus Unum has doubling.

Can machine doubling cause all the above? The lower part of Monticello with doubling is thick and raised, not flat.
Sorry, I can't take any pictures that would be close up enough to see the doubling.

    Thank you,

    Diane

Hi Diane and welcome to the CONECA forum.

It is hard to determine what you have without pictures, however, it is more than likely machine doubling that you have encountered. Have you tried matching it up against the files for that date found on the CONECA home page? That may give you an idea of what you do have or do not have.

Sorry that I could be of little assistance, but as I mentioned, pictures would help an awful lot.
