CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1972 D DDO?

I can't tell if this is die fatigue or a DDO. Any help out there? Ignore the pointer from my microscope.

I thing you have several different forms of doubling on this coin. I see Machine doubling on the date also some die deterioration doubling on the mint mark. I do see some notching on the E and raised images and nothching on the w of IN GOD WE TRUST a possible doubled die by your pics. These forms of doubling can coexsist on one coin. Lets see what others have to say

This is a great example of the MDO (master doubled obverse) for the year. About half of all 1972 cents have this doubling. The mintmark has circulation damage to it.

So it's not very rare because the master hub had the doulbing and therefore every die made from that hub will show this? And therefore there is no DDO number for it, ie 1do-001. Right?
