After reading a vast majority of the posts here (in that some are using to high a magnification and to use lower magnification) and on other sites, along with what some who attribute varieties say, in that they have to be able to see what ever it is a aleast 10x, what would you all say would be the recommended magnification to use while searching coins? If it best to just look at them at 10x and then if you think you see something, go higher, or search at a little higher magnification and then check it at 10x to see if still see it.
From my own experience in the short time I have been searching for varieties, I have found that the higher the magnification the more I THINK I see, but when I back up and look at it under lower magnification, it is not really there.

Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave - When I am searchuing, I use between 7.5X to 10X to look at the coins. If I do detect somethin, I have the option of going all the way up to 35X.

Under normal conditions, a search should be conducted with 10x magnification. You are right, when you increase the magnification, all sorts of little things pop out at you (LOL).
