CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 2000p 1C WIDE AM PLUSLCM STEPS ANOMALIES

    Hello ALL again!

Have posted this 2000P WIDE AM last year but have excluded the steps anomalies. Pls comment if minor, or major step anomalies that can be coupled to being WIDE AM.

    Thanks again,

All I see are contact marks on the steps. Damage, in other words.

To date there have been no trail dies associated with any wide AM Lincoln cent. However, I do believe that there are one or two minor doubled dies (extra columns) found in either/or the 1998 / 2000 wide AM.

        Thank you, Mike.

Have attached a close up view that clearly shows the steps deviation.

Being extremely familiar with wavysteps and they reaction to the stairs in the Lincoln Memorial Building, I am almost positive that there is no deviation present. At times, there can be some deviation present that can not be photographed, but seen. This may be one of those instances. However, if this is the case, then it is just to minor to be of any consequence.

            Thanks BJ.

Will mail this coin tomorrow to Dr. Wiles (together with the other 2008P/D DDR coins) for attribution, mainly for WIDE AM.

            Regards,
            NVTEs

It may not be worth attributing simply because a 2000 wide am is worth around $5. Take out cost of mailing it, attribution. you've spent most of what it's you would get for it if it's in nice condition. I would only really attribute something if it seems like a new die, a die that is difficult to distinguish between multiple dies, or a rarer one that could command a premium, or as to help with the collective census about as to how many are around.

                Thanks again 3cnicker!

Novices like us will consider it much greater than $5 just by having it touched and attributed by Dr. Wiles (or other expert attributers) as such, then have the coin in our collection album.

Looking forward to your continued help in our quest.
