CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Another 1988D RDV-006 ???

    Hello ALL!

Stevens' post of his RDV-006 reminded us of our misplaced coin when Hurricane Ike struck us. Found it and here's our post (but then again, you can confirm if genuine or not). Have made comparisons with Stevens and Coneca's, and from our observation, could have struck by same die(???) due to sameness of presence/locations of cracks, but different stages.

Let us know if we correctly ID'ed our coin or missed something.

    Thanks!

All three dies are different. This is obvious from the placement of the mint mark. I would suggest that you have yours looked at for confirmation that it does have the 1989 reverse.

PS - when matching die markers, in this case die cracks, they must be exactly in the same place, though intensity can change due to the die state.

The other thing you have to take into consideration is that Stevens is very dirty and the "cracks" may not be so. Frankly I din't think your pictures of your initials were sharp enough to tell but Bj says send it in so you never know.

          Thanks 3cnicker.

Sorry for this late response. We're tied up.

The 3 novices actually are resetting the 2 microscope cameras that we are using since the current set-up is giving us "false" images of doubled dies, etc. Even this
current "FG' initial photo of our coin seemed false, too!
          So we'll be back.

          All,
Thanks for helpful tips to us!
