Here are a couple of new trail dies that Steven down Missouri way found.

The first is obviously on a 1996 Lincoln cent. As with most obverse trail dies, the only design element affected was the date. This will be listed in the DEO/DER files as 1996P-1DEO-001T with an offset direction of 050 degrees

The next is found on a 1999 Lincoln cent and the design element affected on this die is LIBERTY, which seems to be the most common area on the obverse die to have trails. This will be in the DEO/DER files as 1999P-1DEO-004T with an offset direction of 340 degrees.

I am always interested in wavy steps and trail dies, especially on other denominations beside the Lincoln cent. If you do have some that you are unsure of, just drop me a line. Thanks.

It is hard to say exactly what a trail or wavy step dies is worth. I do know that coppercoins has the strongest wavy step die listed at about $100.00 for a MS64 example.

As with just about all variety and error coijns, it is up to the buyer to determine how much he or she is willing to spend. Also remember that this is a fairly new variety type and not that many are aware of it, YET!!!.
