I am not quite sure what to make of this Lincoln cent. I am fairly sure it is not a grease strike, however, it may be even with both the obverse and reverse affected.

Are there any other ideas as to what has happened to this cent?

It would be a grease strike of some sort, although the substance seems to have been a bit grittier than usual. There also might be some blistered plating on the obverse.

Struck through a thick layer of grease.
