1972 D Lincoln Cent Tripled Overse and D over S Mint

I think your imagination is on the loose again. The 1972 Lincoln cent is one of the most heavily searched coins in this series. Do you not think that this supposed D over S mint mark would have been seen in the last 38 years if it were a valid anomaly?

I believe what you are seeing is die deterioration on the mint mark and post strike damage on the 2 digit.

I have attached closer views of what looked like an 'S'.

And the tripling is not post mint damage. Additional closer views showed tripling outlines of the bottoms of the three '2's.


But can be misidentifications again.
