BJ,

I have a 1865 IHC with what I believe to be the Longacre Doubling. The coin is in EF to AU condition with a few surface blotches. Is there any added value for a Longacre Doubled 1865 IHC versus a 1865 IHC of the same condition without any doubling. I understand that the hub doubling is probably one of the most sought after and most valuable types of doubling. The pic is about the best I can do. The coin is dark green (not the disease kind of green but more like a painted green) and is hard to capture a nice clear pic.

Longacre doubling is very common affect seen on IHPs and therefore does not command a premium. There are examples of doubled dies, mis-placed and repunched dates on IHPs that do increase the value of the coins affetced.

Thank you once again, BJ. I knew, from what I've read, that the Longacre doubling is very common on IHC. Just didn't know if there is "any" additional value added to the Longacre doubled coin over a non doubled. I haven't noticed any other doubling other than the feathers and all the lettering on the Obverse. I'll try to refrain from sending anymore post for a day or so. :)

Have a great remainder of the weekend.
