1944 D/S Help please

I was told by a few collectors that this was the real thing but a new OMM,could it be possible or is there a listing for it..Thanks

I'm no expert but I think it looks like: FS # 1c - 021!
It is also listed as OMM #2, Breen # 2177.

Wait for one of the other guys as I'm still learning and might be wrong! :rolleyes::D

I am not to sure from your pictures if this is 1944 D/S, OMM # 002. If you would, take a look at the pictures of that die on Coppercoins.com and see if they do match your coin. In particular, try and see if any of the die markers do match.

To my knowledge, Lincoln cent, 1944-D/S, OMM-003 does not exist in CONECA or Coppercoins files, however, the Wexler files may have a new entry that may be 1944-D/S, OMM-003.

There is one just like it on ebay and the item number is 330179450561 ..The owner of it i emailed along with pictures and he said OMM#3..

Find out on what list it is on. I can't find a listing on a OMM-#3.

The reference to the 1944-D/S, OMM-003 is in Brian Allen & John Wexler's book " Lincoln Cent Mint Mark Varieties". That is the good news.

Now for the bad. First of all, the position of the mint mark is different in all three examples, your post, the Ebay auction and the picture of the die in Wexler's book. However, that is just an eyeball educated guess. Also, the example in Wexler's book, which was a mint state coin, does not show the inner portion of the supposed "S" as your example and the one on Ebay.

As John Wexler pointed out, this could be a possible OMM, however, it could be just a case of metal flow lines.

As for the price of this die on that Ebay auction, it is superbly unrealistic. But that is just my opinion.
