Hello all,

I have a Type-2 Half Dollar Planchet that resembles a reeded edge (please see attachments). I have other type 2 planchets that are smooth around the
edge.

Has anyone ever see anything like this or know what may have caused
this? Thanks Vince

Hello all,
Does anyone know if a reeded edge is unusual on a blank planchet and is there any addition value?

I won the planchet via EBAY from a person that purchased a small hoard from someone that worked for brinks.

Thanks for your help… Vince

It's impossible for an unstruck planchet to have a reeded edge. That's because the reeding is imparted by the strike. No strike, no reeding. This would be false reeding of some kind. The irregular spacing is consistent with this interpretation.
