Hi smittys...the two markers are certainly there, but the die chip in your coin's 6 is a bit lower than the one in the variety. It's hard to tell about the harpoon as the shadows obscure details....

Many of the PUPs and markers are pretty generic. Which ones are you referring to? The most important PUP is the MM position, since that is a unique identifier for each die.

Sorry smittys, it's not the same. The MM on your coin is closer to, and more directly under, the 5 in the date. MM position is the first thing to look for in determining if you have a match.

I see a lot of MDD in your photos...are you sure it is a doubled die?

Yes, you can see the Master Die Doubling in various places on both the "reference" and the "variety" coin. It shows as doubled points on the 2nd 4, and on doubled horizontal lines. But the extra...

    1944-S DDO Cent

Here's a Cent I put aside for later attribution. I don't see this DDO listed. First shot is the DDO alone, then an animation comparing with a normal 44-S. Comments welcome. Is this DDO strong enough...

Also one of my favorites. I have been lucky in searching 54-S BU rolls and have found several nice examples of this one. I included it in my "Top 100 RPMs in 3D" threads over on LCR. Here's a...

    1945-D DDO-2 vs Regular Die

On my last trip to LA I bought a BU Roll of 1945-D, and half the roll was DDO-2. These Type-6 Doubled Dies are hard to attribute so I made an animated overlay between the DDO and a regular 1945-D....

Very nice writeup Ken! I have also (re)-discovered Cohen's reference in searching the BIE's I've found during 1950's BU roll searching. I ended up attributing most of the 1955-S BIEs by Cohen number....

    1954-D DDO

This one is not listed in the eBook, but it is listed on Coppercoins, and DDO #3 is given as the cross reference. This one looks like a type VIII is very similar to 54-S DDO's 2/3/4. Is there a...

Huh, that's interesting. There is a clear difference between the two 6's. One is much more open than the other, and the inner part of the 6 goes "flatter" on the one that is more closed. Now you have...
