CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • A Mis-error

I was asked if this was a real mint error.

Education is a must and COINECA is here to supply it.

It's Not. We call these "squeeze jobs". Coins are laid one atop another and placed in a vice, or hit with a hammer.

You can call it a squeeze job, vise job, hammer job, or sandwich job. As was remarked earlier, this coin was squeezed or hammered between two other cents.

It was obvious from the start what I was looking at. The first design element that caught my eye was the back wards "N" of ONE. That is why I used a "non" word "mis-error" in the introduction.

Unfortunately, this was from a dealer, who had hoped that it was something, but had the common sense to verify it before placing this monstrosity up for sale. And thus, one of the reasons why I do shows for our organization, to catch such things like this and educate the public.
