CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Lincoln Cent Weight

    11/2/11

I would like to know about 1964 Lincoln Cent transitional strikes if there are any?
Were there foreign coins minted by the US mint in 1964?
If a coin (Lincoln Cent) is weighing 3.3 grams could it be real and not counterfeit, the coin appears smaller than others? I do not have a camera that will take detail photographs. But I will try to post a photo tomorrow.

Thanking you in advance your kindness.

The weight of your coin is about what it should be. If your coin is smaller in diameter then it probably is what some folks calls a dryer coin.when a coin becomes stuck in a clothes dryer and keeps spinning around the edge gets pushed in and the coin becomes smaller in diameter and the coins edge becomes round instead of flat.

Weight is 48 grains. What do you mean by a transitional? Blanks were purchased from outside suppliers in 1964. Phila. Mint--not the Branch Mints--strikes coins for other countries.
