CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. Can someone explain what's going on with this coin? The coin looks like a sun burst, plus there's a bunch of area's on this coin that look doubled. Do you think it is a grease die, single squeeze doubling,or what do going on here. look real close at liberty and quarter dollar. Could it be just a old worn out die ?

This is a very late die state coin suffering the effects of die deterioration; heavy die flow lines and "orange peel" surfaces, twisting and doubling of design. This is inherent to die use when it enters into very die stages (if a die lasts that long).
