CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

EDITED. We are not here to promote other websites.

This should be THE first site that you ever visit in your life.

First, let me express my deepest admiration for the CONECA forum, website, and all things CONECA. I'd also like to express my thanks to Jamez for the hard work he puts in as administrator of the forum. That being said, if there was a "dislike" button, I'd be clicking. The second sentence on the CONECA homepage says that CONECA, "is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors." I think Josh is jut trying to help educate folks.

I'm hate to say it, but if a person, unfamiliar with error coins, found a cent that was struck through thinnest of die caps, and only came to this site, they are gonna toss that coin back. I believe this because I lived this example. If I hadn't seen it on error-ref, I would have had no idea what I had.

Main point: scrapping this thread is a joke. No wonder there are only 4 or 5 people that participate here regularly!

Again, Jamez, this isn't aimed at you personally. I'm sure there's a rule about promoting other sites. I can understand not promoting other forums, but not great reference sites that were created by CONECA members. Heck, Diamond was president and Cuvlier is on the BoD. Come on man!

Here are the rules to the forum.
      http://board.conecaonline.org/showth...CA-FORUM-RULES

If I allow one person to promote their site then I must allow everyone to do it. Regardless of content or agenda. You have no idea how many sites I have blocked here.. Viagra, Tennis shows, sunglasses, cards etc.. where shall I draw the line? There is a thread here that there are numismatic related links in.

      http://board.conecaonline.org/forumdisplay.php?11-Links

And for the record, I know who Mike Diamond is and his past, I also know who Jason is and his past.. See I too and on the CONECA board.

I'm the longest serving Board Member for CONECA and I have a great personal web site, but I'd never promote that folks go to my web site for error information from this forum any more than I'd go to the PCGS Forums to promote NGC's interests. Referencing a link to an article that applies to a given topic or in your signature where most forums including ours allows it is one thing but promoting another site over our own as being the the "best" or whatever in a thread is quite another. I wouldn't and don't do it out of common courtesy. As Jamz points out we have a page for informational links like other forums, web sites, etc. Just my opinion and one I live by when it comes to promoting my interests over those of CONECA.
