Thread: 1995 Lincoln penny obverse brockage

  1. Default 1995 Lincoln penny obverse brockage

Here is a 1995 Lincoln Penny with what is described as an obverse Brockage. I am not clear as to the error and how it was formed. Someone please explain what caused this error. I understand a counter brockage show the reverse on the front, but this is a mottled obverse with not reverse details.
    Thanks.

This is a generic capped die strike. The coin was struck by a late-stage die cap whose working face was devoid of design elements (presuming there were any design elements to begin with).

Ah, Thanks Mike. A brockage is not one of the items I am familiar with. The date is still there but quite faint. The Liberty is easier to see.
