1972 D Quarter

Good evening. I just found a 1972 D quarter and the D was completely filled in. Now I imagine this is a fairly common occurance, but with all this various miniscule mintmark errors out there, some being pretty valuable, I thought I'd better check to make sure since I'm new to coin collecting. So, is this a valuable thing? Thanks muchly.

No value attached to a "solid" mintmark. It's due to either a chipped letter punch, a worn letter punch, or die deterioration. As you say, quite common.
