Lightning never strikes twice…right? Well maybe it could. I purchased this stunning serpentine golden toned 1940 S Washington Quarter this evening.and looky looky! I have what appears to be another RPM-002, DDO-001 & DDR-001! This could be the finest one known. The subject coin has the following die markers present: Die crack down eagle's Right wing extends to Q of 'QUARTER' – MDS, Die crack across upper hair – MDS, Die crack from middle bar of E of 'STATES' East-Southeast through 'IBUS' to wing – MDS, Die crack across lower wreath, Die chip on bust above '9' of date – LDS & Die crack eagle's beak North to rim at to of Left corner of E of 'STATES' – LDS. CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.
