CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    Thanks James!

I agree that the die fragment is really amazing. The proof surfaces on the die look out of this world to me. Here are some photos from NGC but it still doesn't compare to looking it at in hand.

Wow...that's a nice cud but even nicer is the die fragment associated with the cud. Thanks for sharing. I can't imagine that there are alot of proof halves out there.

The designations I believe are proprietary to COC. Not sure about attributions vs TPGs, but maybe ANACS. I doubt PCGS or NGC would recognize them. They don't recognize most CONECA varieties either.

That's a great site Ray. Do you know if the attributions mentioned there, like CU-50c-1966-01, are specific to Cuds on Coins, or are they used by CONECA? Do any grading services recognized the Cuds on Coins attributions?

For proofs, it seems like there can be:
    • CU-50c-1971S-01
    • CU-50c-1972S-01
    • CU-50c-1973S-01
I'll also reach out to JC and Peter on the CudsOnCoins site.

Is there any information on CONECA's attributions of cuds which Ken Glickman references on his site?

started a topic 1973-S Kennedy Half Dollar Cud Designation

1973-S Kennedy Half Dollar Cud Designation

I'm currently researching proof Kennedy Half Dollar cud varieties and was wondering how these are designated and how one can find the designation.

For example, I'm looking for the designation for the following proof 1973-S Kennedy Half Dollar obverse cud.

There are also obverse cuds for the 1971-S and 1972-S Kennedy Half Dollars, and it would be great to know if these all have attributions, and how they can be referenced.

I've used the following site by Ken Glickman which references CONECA but it only seems to include business strikes. Is there a similar reference list on CONECA that covers proof JFK half dollar cuds?
