CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

Just wanted to let everyone know about some recent finds. I am 34 years old. I began this hobby (for real) a little over 6 months ago. Don't get me wrong, all of my life I have saved any wheat cent, buffalo nickel, or piece of silver I have ever received in change or as a gift. However, as a child I collected baseball and football cards. In the past six months I have scoped thousands of coins, mostly lincoln cents I had in a big jug, and never found a variety. I am sure I missed 1 or 2 with my untrained eyes. At first I found many "doubled dies" that turned out to be just worthless MD after a little studying. I did find a 1819/8 small 9 Capped Bust Half Dollar that was in my dad's stash of his and my grandfather's coins, however, some yahoo scratched his/her initials on the reverse (RHR). So if I ever run into a 170 year old man named Ronald Howard Robinson he will definitely get a piece of my mind. To my astonishment, since Jan 9, I have found 4 nice coins: 1) A well circulated 1954 (Silver) Roosevelt Dime - got it in change from Bi-Lo Supermarket! 2) An AU-MS 2006-P Nebraska State Quarter that is a new Trail Die that I am sending to BJ hopefully this weekend for attribution and encapsulation - got it from a local gas station! 3) An AU 2007-P Wyoming State Quarter that is Coneca-43-R-VIII & Wexler-WDDR-044 - to beat all I got it in change from my local coin dealer while buying 2x2's. I put it on Ebay with a starting bid of $0.25 and guess what? It sold for exactly $0.25! Learned a good lesson there. And 2 nights ago... 4) A 1978 Jefferson nickel that is a die clash - got it in a roll from the same gas station as the trail die! So, in conclusion, I have to say that if you think you are never going to find anything cool, (I was about to give up searching for varieties) just hang in there. You never know what you are going to see when you look through that loupe! Or microscope if you are a lucky guy/gal! I hope the pics are not too bad. I will, sometime in the future, purchase a better method of taking pics. Well I have wasted enough of your time. Thanks for reading and good luck!
