  • 1943 Canadian Cent planchet

Good afternoon,1943 duplicate cents. The darker reddish coin feels heavier so I measured both. The darker reddish coin is 3.26g,19mm by 1.5mm. The lighter coin weighs 3.19g and is 18.9mm by 1.5mm. Possible coated with something post mint, or have you seen this before?

Normal weight for your coin is 3.24 grams. Both coins are well within tolerance of being normal. I would think it would be hard to tell the difference in weight just by feel since difference is only .07 grams. Color difference could be caused by environmental issues affecting the coin's surface. In my opinion your coins are not mint errors.

Thank you, it also felt wider but like you said a difference of a 0.1 millimeter should not be able to be felt by the human hand. Thank you for the explanation. I appreciate it!
