CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Canadian penny question

2012 was the last year of the penny in Canada. That being said does anyone know of any errors on the final year's mintage?
I currently have a bank box, unopened, and am debating to crack of few rolls to search.
    Thanks in advance.

There are currently 3 errors reported on coins&canada, 1 die chip and 2 die clashes, Ebay only shows 1 grease strike, Google is a bust only showing 1 double clipped planchet. I knew of that before posting anything on here.
I was wondering if anyone had heard of anything else that may not have been reported to yet.

if you ask me, there is only one way to know if a roll has error coins in it besides the odds are always against and that is to open em and look at the coins.since most of the valuable errors should be visible naked-eye, MAYBE a little louping, if you are gonna spend em anyway, look em over. shouldn't take long.

I don't have any plans to spend them, I am not in Canada but in Florida, USA.
Regardless I will probably open a few rolls and see if they pique my interest, if they do I'll keep going if not, oh well.
          But thanx for chiming in!!
