  • 1965 Canadian penny

I read where there was a fifth design of the 1965 canadian coin having extra bud in centre of branch..However, there were actually 5 varieties in 1965 and the 5th variety is extremely RARE!
    • Variety # 5: This is the same as variety # 2 but with extra spine on branch. This is very rare with only a few reported.

This is the normal bud variety.

This is the Extra Bud Variety.

This is an extreme enlargement of the Extra Bud Variety.

Good Evening, Jamez..https://canadiancoinblog.wordpress.c...arieties/..The coin posted , under magnification appears to-be struck over . no idea but can see image under top leafs. There is doubling on leafs and extra branch hanging down between 6 and 5..Thanx for response..I have a collection of US error coins dating back to 1919. Over the years i joined a couple coin clubs but realise here in Canada there is not much interest in Penny coins US or Canadian. My cost for Examination would be $ 100. which for most part not worth the cost..I have a 1955 nmm us penny with a double ear, which i have never seen on any articals plus alot of most dates upto 2010 all with good errors,. The coins sat in cold storage for decades and have taken on different colours of oxidation. jim
