New coin doubling!
I'm trying to find out the proper procedure to take on a new coin that has doubling that is not on the die variety sites. I've found one and want to get verified that it's the first one to be found. Thank you for any information. You do not have permission to view this gallery.

It would be nice to know the coin type, year, and whether it has a mintmark.
Depending on the above information, you can add a post in the CONECA SERVICES, under Attributions section. I recommend adding good focused photos of the areas affected. Add as much text as you can descri ing what you see. Ensure the photo is well lit, but no glare. Place your phone on top of a box to take photos without any shaking from holding it in hand.
IF you are using a phone:
Find a box, about 6x6 or 8x8.
Place the box on the table.
Place the coin on the table, close to the base of the box.
Place the phone on top of the box and turn on the camera app.
Carefully slide the phone toward the edge so the camera can see the coin.
Adjust the coin closer if need be.
You can zoom in, but do not make the photo blurry at all.
Make sure there is no glare on the coin, use a lamp vice flash from the phone.
Withe the phone on the top of the box, you can stabilize the phone with one hand.
Gently tap the shutter to take a photo.
If you have a photo editing app on the phone, if need be, crop most of the background out of the photo. You should be able to draw a box around the coin. From there use the cropping tool to remove any unnecessary background. The cropping tool can look like a bent square.Last edited by MintErrors; 02-22-2024, 09:41 PM.Gary Kozera

In my opinion - One never knows if it is the first one found - It's impossible to know if a collector found one already and keeps them in his collection and never gets them attributed. If it is never sent in, then there are no records. The "thrill" of finding something wears off quickly, especially if it gets buried amongst all the other listings. Sure, its great to find something and have it documented and it makes all those disappointments worth the wait when you find a bell ringer.
Again, what type of coin is it? A quarter?Gary Kozera

In my opinion, go to your post in the CONECA Services. At the very top right, just below your title page is a subscribe button. It should notify you when some one has posted to your request.
CONECA is ran by a lot of volunteers. With that being said, the waiting times can be a little lengthy. If you feel it has been too long, you can go to the members list and search for Jamez (yes, with a z). You can click on the black chat box looking icon to send him a private message. Let him know the coin type, year and how long you have been waiting.Last edited by MintErrors; 03-19-2024, 03:24 AM.Gary Kozera
