CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

1973-D Kennedy Half DDR! New DDR???

  • 1973-D Kennedy Half DDR! New DDR???

    Here is a 1973-D DDR Kennedy Half i got in change at the local 7-11 this morning. When i looked at it tonight under a 7x and then a 10x i was like wow! Cant find any listing for it. Is this a new DDR find? Please any and all info on this would be great.

    I magnified one of your photos…you can see it is MDD (Machine Damage Doubling).

          Machine Damage Doubling is very common on our modern coinage. It is characterized by a flat, self-like, secondary image. True die doubling will show splits in the serifs of the letters.
