    1945 S Mercury dime

This is a MS grade 1945 Normal S Mercury dime. Wexler has one DDO listed and this coin does not match. Please look at the 9 in the date. I'm not looking to find a new variety but I thought that finding a split like this in a number or letter it was a sign of a doubled die. Please reply with your comments and thank you for my continuous education in error coins.

i gave it a try but the image isn't clear enough for me to help.

arrows are helpful but try not to get them too close to the feature you are pointing out. i did try to see if there was a split on the tip of the 9 but couldn't.

machine doubling unfortunately can also sometimes resemble splits (ejection doubling/die bounce also) fwiw and also can have legit doubling too minor to list (else i'd have 2-3 more dozen discoveries lol)

these are referred to as varieties not errors. (although the distinction is a bit of a misnomer since i doubt they intended to have ddo/rpm etc which to them would be errors but not to us)

    happy hunting
