  • 1972d No Islands Type1?

Hi everyone, I found an Ike with no islands on what looks like a type 1 ( common type). Has anyone seen this before or what are your thoughts about this coin. Thanks, Bill

The missing Islands could be from over abrasion of the die. I can't tell from photos you have posted. But it also appears that other details of the earth are missing as well.

      Thanks James,
I think its probably a combination of die abrasion, die fill & a light strike. If you tilt the coin just right you can see slight traces of the type 1 islands to the east. Interesting coin. I'll put it away, who knows, someday it might be like the 1922 no D.
