CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    1984 Lincoln cent FS-101

    I am attempting to find information on when and where the 1984 LMC doubled ear FS-101 was first discovered. I would like to know if anyone has the approximate month or specific time frame and area it was discovered in. Thanks!

    Its difficult to know... It depends on when the actual die was created, whether in the beginning of the year - all the way to the end. Then, where did the trucks that had some or all of those cents travel to and where did they send them to be rolled. I don't believe there are such records - because no one has the actual die number associated with the doubled die. Its unreliable to even guess when the first one was slabbed/graded/authenticated since the collector(s) may have held on to them for a while. Rolls/Bags could have been distributed all over the east of Mississippi.
