CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    1984 Lincoln 1c

1984 Lincoln 1C….i’m trying to associate the coin with 1984 DDO – 006 on the Konica Master list but I don’t know how to diagnose medium spread on date. It also has several additional die cracks not listed in the website (Obv head, Rev both sides of building) Let me know what you think. I appreciate you taking a look.

The "8" on the date has a slight "bulge" to the south and east on the bottom circle of the 8. For the "4" in the date, it looks like the corner of the "4" closest to the "8" is a tad wider than normal.

In my opinion, the crack on your coin on the reverse of the Lincoln Memorial is slightly higher than the one on the CML listing. The crack on the CML listing shows a slight dip near the end, farthest away from the rim.
Your coin appears to travel in a straighter line.

Markers are good IF you find a coin that you are pretty confident it is a DDO / DDR. You first need to determine if it has the look of the DDO / DDR before cementing the attribution with markers. I have seen quite a few die cracks at that corner of the Memorial building, but not as far.

Remember these working dies are made of metal, so what photos the attributors show of the area in question should look nearly exact for the coin which you have. The areas of doubling or markers will not move locations. Some may disappear over time, but that is a common practice for very light die cracks, chip and some die scratches and gouges.

I believe this is not a doubled die, unfortunately. Unless, I am in error and not seeing it on the date.
