CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1980 penny super rare if error reverse on obverse

Hi there, I am new to all this ( since March) and more new to the error side of collecting. Thank you for taking time to look! I'd like to know if this is as rare as I think it is or some kind of unique damage. I can add more photos tomorrow when I have better light.

this would go into the Error side of the forum.

it is not an error (imo from the images), looks like 2 coins were stuck together with goop, which is a common occurrence, for some reason.

          Varieties are items like:

          Re-punched mintmarks (D over D or S overS etc)
Over mint marks (D over S, S over D or O over CC, etc)
Doubled dies (doubled die obverse, doubled die reverse)
Repunched or re-cut dates ( same year punched twice)
          Misplaced dates
Over dates ( one year over a different year like 1942 over 41)

There might be a few others, but that seems like the majority of the variety types.
Just about everything else is an error.

you can see all the CONECA forums here:

Thank you to those who have replied. Should I delete it from this forum and post in the error portion or is there a way to move it. Many apologies as I am learning how to navigate.
