  • 1798 (over 7?) Large Cent

Looking back over my collection given the new resources I've learned of in the past few weeks, I believe this is a 1798/7 (S-152?). It's not in the greatest shape but I tried to capture the overdate as best I could. Also looks like maybe an 'I' vs a '1' in the fraction but that could just be wear, as all the existing examples of S-152s I found online had a pretty clear '1'. Any additional information appreciated.

sure looks like a 152 to me tho i don't have the NC images. lost em a while back and never replaced.i prob have a few large cent auction cats around somewhere but i'd have to go a diggin.

very nice images and presentation. that was fun.

obviously coins in this condition can take on some peculiar side effects.

the 1 in the date seems to be a little too far left as my image shows the 1 clearly over the gap.

nothing else in the 98s is really close to the obv and rev of this coin.that S position eliminated like half or so, then the frac bar and numerals several more and the date and TY kinda locked it in.

if you check the NC and nothing is close, i'd lock it in as a 152.

have you sent coins to grellman?

Thanks for the confirmation occnumis2021. 152 seemed the best fit. Didn't realize one could send coins to Grellman. For grading and/or variety attribution? Only for early copper?
