How to pick a FEC variety for your 7070 set.

So as an error / variety collector I've always looked for that little extra on a coin. And building a U.S. type set the sky is the limit for finding those specimens that not only fill a hole but rocks it also!
knowing a few tricks and traing ones eye...and remembering that it's your set! So you make the rules....so lets get started.

the FEC is a series that many over look...yeah its a short lived series...the coins got a lot of play in commerce. Finding a nice specimen in a grade that suits your set then adding a variety to boot is very doable!

anyone have an idea as to this variety?

nice images and cropping but they are a bit too small (and blurry when enlarged).

nice flyer.

can't tell if it is a nice looking circ vf or a weakly struck xf. a good type coin either way.

seems i MAY remember a dented 5 but a quick search didn't bring up antyhing. don't see any rpd/mpd/ddo etc but images are small.

Have a look at the wing tip....then OF two super clues to a bingo on nailing the variety for sure....

obv of a 56? square inside O and long "serifs" on E/F ?

the wing tip is only partly useful as i've seen a lot of broken wings not associated with varieties?

I bought the snow ebooks a few years back, and they make the attribution process amazingly easier for me. Add that they are electronic, and on this tablet cutting down the weight of lugging additional books around.

The ebooks are for Flying Eagles and Indian Heads.

Correct on this series there's a lot of things seen that go unseen by many untrained eye...

I have those bookmarked already. The Snow ebooks are outstanding, where I can zoom in with the tablet and have clarity. Some of the shows I attend don't have free wifi, and I am not going out of my way to do Hotspot or use the screen on my phone to surf and try to do an attribution. Books have already paid for themselves over a few years. I enjoy them.

Well I did get around a bit... my former occupation my territory was the Md.Mason-Dixon Line south to point lookout....east to the ocean.
I also had Washington and Northern Va. For awhile.....
if I wasn't on a jet to some place besides my normal territory....from 2006 thru 2021 I covered a lot of miles.
