CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    1944 half ddo?

Does this 1944 half have a ddo in the words "In God We Trust"?

In my opinion, I do not believe it is. The areas in question appear to be lower, shelf or step like. Some of the letters are really thin compared to others, and that usually indicates some sort of mechanical damage. It is basically worthless damage.

One of the things I can suggest is to visit the recognized variety websites and see if there are any listings associated with the year and mintmark.

It allows a person to check, and then if there are listings, to read the description and get a good idea of where the majority of the doubling occurs.
Since a coin like this has been around for 70 plus years, I am sure if there were any varieties for this year/mintmark, they would have been documented,

New finds are occasionally found out in the wild, but they are very scarce.

    Happy hunting.
