CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    Good morning.
These latest photos represent a lot of the same flat field doubling issues.
The thing here is, its a proof struck coin and these things occasionally happen to proofs especially prior to 1990 or so. Since it appears to have been struck at least twice, potentially three times and the coin/die shifted some issues occured to the coin.

I offer my opinion and yes, occasionally I do make mistakes. With Eric's opinion, I feel pretty confident in this assessment. I am just a average user of this forum just like you, but have decades of experience assessing coins and doing personal attributions and examinations for my coins. I enjoy helping others who are willing to go those extra steps to make this hobby fun and relaxing.

You can, if you want start an article on this forum IN THE CONECA SERVICES under the ATRRIBUTION area. A CONECA staff member will look at the coin and also give their opinion. I highly suggest either giving them the link to this post or, adding as many posts with all your photos and amplifying text as possible. That way a opinion can be formed under one visit. Most of the CONECA sraff are volunteers and some still work, so it can take some time to get a response.

Apparently that area is private so only the coin owner and CONECA staff can see the communication.

If this was a business strike it would be something else. In the write up which I believe was written by Mike Diamond, he stated that this type coin may bring a modest premium. Not sure what that would be. It is a great educational coin.

Great job on the photography of the coin.

Dont consider this post closure, if you have any other questions or concerns feel free to add them.

Others may come in and add their opinions over time. Its getting close to Memorial weekend so people can be distracted away from the hobby to enjoy the long weekend with friends and welcome the unofficial start to summer.
