    Lightning strike?

Found a group of these die cracks. I understand they only have novelty value. These coins have a north/south die crack across most of the back of the coin & go through the dome of the building. Is this what is referred to as a "lightning strike" die crack?
Sorry, I broke the pictures into 2 as the crack was not visible with my full coin photo skills.
    Merry Christmas to all !

In my opinion, yes its a decent die crack. It eventually happens to most working dies which strike a lot of coins. If it were wider, more dramatic it might have had some additional value. Usually the tougher it is to see the lesser the collector interest.

But - In this day and age, with the limited amount of errors available there might be some one out there that collects these.

I have never heard of the crack referenced as a "lightning" crack. If its a well known phrase from a reputable coin website, good. Otherwise someone sticks a name on it, thows the name on the wall to see if it sticks. Most do not.

Photograhs can be difficult and some coins take hours to get that potentially awesome photo. Its all about light placement and the amount of light used to accent the area. It does not always have to be a real bright light.

Sometimes the weirdest placement of a light combined with subtle lighting does the trick. One time I attempted to photograph a coin and it was not complying. I decided to take a break and before doing so, i pushed back one on the lights, so when i come back, i would try it again with a new approach. I came back later, turned the lights back on and looked through the microscope and image on the screen..wow, the image was awesome. Crazy.
