    World Doubled die Reference/Master List

Does anyone know of a comprehensive list, or published reference detailing notable world doubled die coins? (Other than USA doubled dies?)

I have been on the look-out for a few years now, but have yet to encounter one.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

Jeff: Ken Potter may have something avaible, but I haven't seen a world die variety listing in 20 years. A cherrypickers' guide to world die varieties would certainly be welcomed.

      Thank you James.

Yes, A "cherrypickers' guide to world die varieties" would be a wonderful publication.

It would very well be a collaborative effort for which I am game.

        World Doubled Dies

        Hello Jeff,
I have a webpage that I post PICS of world doubled dies in my collection. It is no where near complete, but you will find some of my best examples there. I have worked with Ken Potter in having a few published. Brain Raines has countless world doubled dies. He and I have talked about making such a reference in the future.
        Sincerely
        Harold

          Hi Harold,

Nice to see you checking in here.

Yes, you have quite a nice collection of Doubled Die coins.

Here is a link over to ECIE, hosted by Mike Diamond, it is a variety albumn with some world doubled die coins.

          See you around Harold,

            Hi Harold,
Was surprised to see a picture of the Mississippi Belle II 5 cent token doubled die obverse on your site. I just finished an article on that doubled die in the latest ES (July/August) for no one could remember if one had been written about this great doubled die. If you need some updated pictures for that token, let me know and I'll forward them to you.

The general consensus is that a "Cherry pickers Guide" for foreign coins would be a welcome addition to the variety library. I have notified the members of the local coin club that I belong to that if they do run across any unusual variations in foreign coins, to let me know. Now I have a place, if any are found, that I can submit them to.

Also, it may be advisable to notify Mike Diamond concerning your web site so that it may be added to the list of educational sites, if it is not already on there.

Brian Raines has plans for a book on world doubled dies. He has an enormous collection of them, many with staggeringly wide spreads. I have no idea when he'll get around to doing it, though.
