    2007 P MT 25c Earlobe DDO

I found a nice 2007 P Montana quarter doubled earlobe in the last box I searched. I've been in somewhat of a drought lately -- finding a few repeats of minor DDs I'd found previously - but nothing substantial. It was a nice surprise when this one popped up in the last two rolls from the box.

This one is one of the bolder 'earlobe' DDOs I've found - very much like the 2005 P MN DDO I posted earlier.

Isn't it heck to go through a dry spell. I was doing the samething down here until I ran across a van Buren dollar coin with trails.

    Nice find Ken.

Yes - the dry spells can be tough. After several days of finding nothing, I was really beginning to tire of searching quarter rolls. A nice new find like this generates just enough of a spark to rejuvenate interest and keep me ‘rolling’ on.

My goal with this quarter rolls by the box blitz has been to find a second (and hopefully nicer) example of that 2001 P NC ‘Extra Hair’ DDO. So far, I have been unsuccessful. Apparently that variety was not released in volume in my area. It did make Wexler’s Varieties Notebook column in CW this week. Hopefully the article will inspire some people to check their NC quarter stashes and result in a few BU examples turning up on eBay. I’m ready for a break from searching boxes and I’d be happy just to buy a nice example of that variety for my collection.
