A question for the experts
The majority of 1979 D pennies I come across are RPM's. All of them have a split serif at the bottom and look identicle and I can't believe they all came from the same die. I found so many that I no longer hold onto them. Just out of curiosity, is it possible or likely that the "D" punch itself was made with the split serif? I have no clue on how the punches were made.Tags: None

As 1 cent said, the punch that the mint used in that year was damaged and had a split lower serif.
For RPMs in that year, I would suggest looking at Coppercoins. They have three listed, with two of them having photographs. CONECA has one listed and I am not sure what the Crawford or Wexler files have for rpms for this date.
