  • 1968-s Lincoln Cent = Proof--DDO ?

This proof Lincoln Cent looks like it may be DDO - 002 as discribed in CONECA'S LIST. I would appreciate any and all opinions.

    Thanks

Louie: It certainly looks to be a class 2 spread toward the rim, I looked at conecas ddo-02 list , the die marker for ddo-02 is a die chip on the top left of first T of trust. Thats all I can say, nice find

Take a look at Coppcoins photos of this die and see if you can match any of the die markers. Their listing # is 1968S-1DO-002.

        1968-s Lincoln Cent = Proof--DDO ?

I checked Coppercoins site BJ, but couldn't find anything on 68-S Proofs. I found three different ones on business strikes, but none for proofs. Maybe I'll get time to check some more tomorrow.

        Thanks,
        Louie

Just like the 1969-S take a look at the mint mark to see if it is doubled or not. Those mint marks are set by hand and shouldn't show the same type of doubling. Be careful as a mint mark can be an RPM on a DD just to through you off.

            1968-s Lincoln Cent = Proof--DDO ?

Thanks FCLOUD for the info.. I didn't see any doubling on the MM on this 68-S, but the MM and date are both doubled on the 69-s, but the doubling on the MM and date looks different than the rest of the motto etc. The doubling on the date and MM shows like a groove, without much seperation. Anyway I am sending them to James Wiles tomorrow so he can get an on hand look at them. Thanks again to all of you for your input and comments.

                  1968-s Lincoln Cent = Proof--DDO ?

This is a follow up on this 1968-s Proof cent, and the 1969-s proof cent that I posted a while back, and sent to Dr. Wiles for attribution. He attributed this 1968-s as DDO-002, 2-O-II-E, stage B, MDS, and the 1969-s as Machine Damage Doubling. So one out of two isn't bad.
