CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1997D and 2006D 1c Similar Doubled URNS???

    Good evening all!

Looks like similar doubled URNS. Can you confirm if so, and what they maybe if not?

    Thank you again!

    Hi Novice, Welcome back.

I'll voice my opinion on these if you don't mind. The 1997 looks like a stain, it's the same color as all the other stains on the reverse. The 2006 almost looks like a dent from something striking it after it left the mint. I say this because it's reflecting light in a different direction than it should. Just my thoughts on these. I'm no pro, just a fellow forum member.

      Thanks Lesterr!

We'll try higher mag to determine if only stain. On the other coin, we'll try to
see if other parts of urn are doubled also, or just a front dent only.

      Thanks again.

you don't really need more mag to spot it. you need to try different angles you have a better map of the field and design. higher mag will still show you the color change and may not really help you determine if there is difference in surface elevation changes.
