  • 1972 JEFFERSON NICKEL RPM QUESTION

Please look at the attached photo of a 1972 D MM and let me know if you think it is a RPM. I didn't see it on the JEFFERSON NICKEL RPM listing.

    Thanks

Hi Tuebits - I do not see any indications that would lead me to believe that it is a RPM. Without split serifs or notching, I just don't think it is.

      Jefferson 70S opinion

Thanks, I have to agree now that I've had time to analyze it, I think it is more of an indexing X or mark.

However would you look at this 70S Jefferson Nickel and let me know what you think. I want to see a horizontal S under the vertical MM however I'm not sure. I do see an extra line under the upper curve. What do you see?

I changed the angel for the shot a couple of times to see it better.

This one looks like it has late stage die deterioration affecting it. It would be hard to establish another mint mark near or under the primary one.
