CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

1974S Mintmark styles question

  • 1974S Mintmark styles question

    I am trying to figure out what the two MMs are on a whole bunch of '74S Lincolns I have. Picture 1 below has a '74S and '71S - both appear to be MMS-008 "Tall."

    What has me puzzled is the other S I have found. In picture 2, I thought the other MM was MMS-009 "Double Punch" but after I placed it next to a '75S Proof MMS-009 in Photoshop I don't know. I placed a '74S MMS-008 below in the same illustration for comparison. This other S has a different shape - I am baffled...

    This doesn't answer my question about the MM I cannot identify, but I did fins a clear '74S MMS-009 Double punch Mintmark
