CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1972 S PROOF DOUBLE DIE?

Attached are a few photos of a 1972 S proof cent. On the obverse in the motto the "G" shows extra thickness towards the southwest, the word "WE" also shows some extra thickness as well as what appears to be doubling on both letters with the letter "E" doubling to the southeast, in the word TRUST the letters "TR" show extra thickness and the letter "R" shows doubling to the East, on the # 2 there is doubling on the inside (west) of the number where indicated and seen best on the inside of the top of the numbers neck. On the Reverse the columns on either side of Lincoln seem warped or wavy.

Your imput would be greatly appreciated

There maybe a little extra thickness to the letters, however, I woould think it a bit minor to list. As for the wavyness of the coluimns, it is known that dies do warp, so this maybe a case of a warped working die.
