CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    Here one that I picked up last night at an auction.




    No one right 100% of timesI maybe wrong and will I say, sorry I was wrong

    The granular surface and the uneven letters of ONE CENT suggest to me that this may be a counterfeit. If it's not a counterfeit, then you may have a repunched mintmark. But it could also reflect the use of a damaged letter punch.

      I am 100% sure the is not counterfeit he was a good friend here pass in his sleep.I known him for about 25 years.according to his notes that this was struck with rusty dies.

          The close-ups of the pitted obverse show a microscopic surface texture that is incompatible with a rusted die. Perhaps it was exposed to a harsh chemical environment.

              This is not a fake coin what you have is a pitted surface which is the result of a rusted die.
              The mint maek looks like a filled MM I don't see the seperation for a RPM
